WHAT TO EXPECT

"Different strokes for different folks."

Whether we are aware of it or not, at different times in our lives each person responds favorably or not to different types of touch and to different conversations. What feels luxurious to one person may feel uncomfortable to someone else, depending on time of day, season of the year, time of life, specific symptoms, life experiences, and so on.

Some of our services may seem unfamiliar and strange compared to health care you have sought in the past. However, once you experience them you will very likely want to return again and again in order to continue enjoying their relaxing and revitalizing results. The time you enjoy with us will be one of the best investments you can make. Furthermore, you are likely to find that this kind of quality healthcare can be fun, interesting, relaxing and exciting all at the same time.

One of the major goals of our clinic is to help you understand and benefit from the many types of touch that you are able to receive and to give. We encourage you to avail yourself of the variety of services and classes we offer so that you may discover what works best for you and so that you may uncover your own valuable healing talents.

FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE
AND ORIENTAL MEDICINE (AOM)

If you are concerned with long-term health of body, mind and spirit, Five Element Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine services should be at the top of your list of treatments to receive and to learn about. Mental health, pain management, gynecological concerns, and numerous other issues can be profoundly affected by this form of medicine.

ACUPUNCTURE CLIENT
WELCOME PACKAGE

New acupuncture clients will be asked to fill out several forms at your first appointment. However, if you want to read or complete them before your initial visit, click the link above. This will give you a chance to review the material and to prepare questions to ask our acupuncturist.

ACUPUNCTURE ASSESSMENT

This includes a lengthy interview and may or may not involve direct physical examination. During the interview, notes will be taken that may include your treatment and life goals as well as significant information about your past and present health history. Many personal questions are aimed at better understanding the many factors that have contributed to your current condition.

The physical assessment may include pressing of abdominal and other points, evaluation of twelve or more pulses, observing range of motion, checking blood pressure, examining the tongue, and/or other tests. At the end of the assessment we will decide together if you are ready to receive a needled treatment.

FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT

Hair-thin, pre-sterilized, solid, stainless steel needles will be inserted shallowly into the skin to help activate points and pathways that serve the multiple healing needs of body, mind and spirit. Additional tools of traditional oriental medicine may also be used. Each of these tools will be explained prior to their use. The most commonly needled areas will be below the elbows and below the knees. Needles may be removed immediately following insertion or may remain in position for ten to forty minutes or more depending upon the treatment goals of a particular session.

OTHER HEALING TREATMENTS

Most treatments at Harmony Gate Wellness Center, LLC take place fully clothed. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended. Some types of therapies may involve verbal counseling, gentle movement and breathing exercises, or more physical types of activities. It is important that you report to us immediately if you are experiencing any discomfort, fear, or other negative reactions during any treatment session. It is also important that you followup within a week of treatment so that your practitioner can help resolve any worries or concerns that arise.
