ACUPUNCTURE CLIENT
WELCOME PACKAGE
New acupuncture clients will be asked to fill out several forms at your first appointment. However, if you want to read or complete them before your initial visit, click the link above. This will give you a chance to review the material and to prepare questions to ask our acupuncturist.
This includes a lengthy interview and may or may not involve direct physical examination. During the interview, notes will be taken that may include your treatment and life goals as well as significant information about your past and present health history. Many personal questions are aimed at better understanding the many factors that have contributed to your current condition.
The physical assessment may include pressing of abdominal and other points, evaluation of twelve or more pulses, observing range of motion, checking blood pressure, examining the tongue, and/or other tests. At the end of the assessment we will decide together if you are ready to receive a needled treatment.
Hair-thin, pre-sterilized, solid, stainless steel needles will be inserted shallowly into the skin to help activate points and pathways that serve the multiple healing needs of body, mind and spirit. Additional tools of traditional oriental medicine may also be used. Each of these tools will be explained prior to their use. The most commonly needled areas will be below the elbows and below the knees. Needles may be removed immediately following insertion or may remain in position for ten to forty minutes or more depending upon the treatment goals of a particular session.
Most treatments at Harmony Gate Wellness Center, LLC take place fully clothed. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended. Some types of therapies may involve verbal counseling, gentle movement and breathing exercises, or more physical types of activities. It is important that you report to us immediately if you are experiencing any discomfort, fear, or other negative reactions during any treatment session. It is also important that you followup within a week of treatment so that your practitioner can help resolve any worries or concerns that arise.
